  • Mother-daughter slay suspect brought back to Cavite

The suspect in the killing of a mother and her five-year-old daughter in General Trias was escorted  back to Cavite after he surrendered to the Eastern Samar police, GMA 7 news program "24 Oras" reported on Friday.

Suspect Ruel Cabatingan, who faced double a murder charge for allegedly killing Ruby Gamos and her daughter Shaniah Nicole, had executed an extrajudicial affidavit in which he emphasized that he had surrendered voluntarily.

Cavite police director Senior Superintendent William Segun meanwhile revealed that Cabatingan had confessed to killing the Gamoses.

"That night, minamasahe niya lang daw yung si biktima... nagdilim 'yung paningin niya," explained Segun.

"Based sa sinabi niya, sir, sinakal daw niya," he police director added.

Meanwhile, Oliver Dichitan of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) unit said that they had evidence, such as nail clippings, which suggested Ruby Gamos had struggled with her killer.

Authorities also recovered the victims' missing television set, cellphones, laptop, and other gadgets from a house belonging to relatives of Cabatingan's ex-wife.

Segun had speculated that Cabatingan may have committed the murders because he was jealous of Ruby and her husband Marl
