He, in turn, stands up and seizes his host, saying, “My inheritance is with you and you are withholding it from me! ”.
Perplexed by this statement, Rabbi Yannai asks: “What inheritance of yours is with me?” The guest explains: “I once passed by a school and heard children’s voices reciting: Torah Tzivah Lanu Moshé, Morashah Kehilat Yaacov – 'The Torah that Moses gave us is the inheritance (Morasha, in Hebrew) of the congregation of Jacob'. They did not say ‘the inheritance of the congregation of Yannai,’ but rather, ‘the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.'”
